Introduction
I am back at SLCC after taking a break for 9 years, I feel very different about school now, I am doing it for me, to make my life and my daughters better. I have a vision for where I want to be 10 years from now.
My Major
I changed my major when I had almost completed my AAS of Accountingto AS in Business so that I could transfer to Utah State and pursue my Masters.
I have a great deal of Accounting knowledge and plan to pursue a Masters in Business or Public Administration I am naturally good in this field. It is a field that is always needed and always growing. I want to make a difference in the world. I may not make a difference by counting numbers but I will make a difference in the things I am passionate about by getting my degree.
With this degree I will be able to eventually be the director of an animal shelter or an animal welfare organization. My goal is to make huge changes in this field in my lifetime and be part of the shift of compassion towards all living beings regardless of pet, farm animal or wild animals!
About Me
I am really passionate about animals and the environment. I believe in giving back to my community but I like to support the underdog, the minority those who do not have a voice. I volunteer for SL County Animal Services and Best Friends- I have been actively fighting for humane treatment of animals for about 20 years, when I first began it was just a few and now there are many. We are the Army of Kind :)
People always ask me well "what about people" I do support community as well, I have volunteered for NAMI, The Pride Center, Rescue Mission, YMCA and do support UNICEF and End Child Hunger. I do ongoing volunteer work for animal organizations because I feel they have less advocates and we need to educate people, I believe by learning to have compassion and kindness for animals we in turn become kinder human to everyone.
I love to garden, and snowboard. I look forward to being able to enjoy life more in the future. I took the long road to my education and life, I struggled with addiction for many years so now the opportunity cost is higher, I give up most of my free time to work and go to school, so what I do for me and for my soul is volunteer and maintain my garden.
